The destroyer HMS Lynx was part of the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla, charged with guarding the east coast of Britain from German raiders such as those that had bombarded Scarborough in December 1914. On 9th August 1915 she sank after hitting a mine in the Moray Forth. 70 of her crew of 96 were lost.
